Be A Focal Point When It Comes To Food Packaging
As technology advances and lifestyle changes, the clamor for easier and faster access to everything including food and pre-packed food are expected to be more in demand in the coming years. In the packaging industry, this means taping machines and other packaging supplies are increasingly using the modified-atmosphere packaging (MAP). This is the process behind many convenience food products we love—cheese, salad, sausage, and even fresh meat.

How it works
During the packaging process, air is suctioned out and replaced with protective gas which can be a combination of various gases or just a single gas. This kind of gas is individually tailored to the food item that needs to be packed. This process requires more than just a taping machine or a carton sealer. It uses thermoforming machines or tray sealers. MAP packages are also designed not just for longer shelf life, but for eco-friendly and practical applications as well. MAP packaging also features easy opening minus the need to use sharp implements such as scissors or knives.

In the food industry, food packaging is a key component. High-pressure processing is seen as one of the most promising technologies for the reduction of harmful germs especially on meat, poultry and vegetables. This method of processing increases shelf life and product safety without the need for heat and preservatives, which is advantageous for both food producers and consumers. Taping Machine Systems In Focus: Yogurt Bundling

In the last installment of our taping machine systems series, we will look at BestPack’s custom taping machine system for yogurt bundling. This one-of-a-kind packaging system incorporates the company’s unique sleever/bundler system.

The yogurt bundling system consists of three stations namely traymaking, place packing and bundling.

1. Traymaking. In this first station, the trays for the containers are created using BestPack’s exclusive trayforming machines.

2. Case Packing. After the trays have been formed, the yogurt containers are then sorted and oriented based on how they will be fitted into the trays. The yogurt containers are then “grabbed” by arms with suction cups and then place-packed into the tray.

3. Bundling. In this last station, the tray and the yogurt containers are wrapped with film around the entire tray. The wrapped tray enters a heat tunnel where the film is shrunk. The heat also binds all the yogurt containers to the tray. Once securely packed, these yogurt containers are ready for shipment.

Taping Machine Systems In Focus: Textiles



In the past weeks, we have shared with you custom taping machine systems created by BestPack for specific industries. We’ve looked at book bindery, electronics, food packaging (for delicate food like tostadas), furniture and petroleum processing. This week, we are looking at another BestPack taping machine innovation: a custom system made for packaging filament yarn. This system uses breakthrough technology to enable yarns to be placed onto spools and to wrap these spools with plastic.

This one-of-a-kind taping machine system has three main stations.

1. Packing. This is where the spun yarn is placed onto spools. The spools with the yarn are then sent into a wrapper.

2. Wrapping. Here, the wrapper lifts the spun yarn to enable yarn to be completely wrapped by plastic. The wrapped yarn is then returned to the spool for packing.

3. Tray Erector. Once the yarn is wrapped, a tray is erected. This large traymaker was specially designed for the yarn industry. It then sends the traymaker to the packing area.

Taping Machine Systems In Focus: Petroleum Processing



Packaging canned petroleum in the form of motor oil is a delicate process that requires professional custom made machinery. BestPack, as a leader in efficient packaging solutions, has come up with this three-station taping machine system that will standardize the process of packing and sealing canned motor oil. While originally designed for petroleum processing, this taping machine system can also be used for packaging of other canned items.

1. Carton Erecting. Using the ESHBS erector, the box is erected and sent into the case packing machine. The ESHBS erector is designed with a bottom fed suction system that erects the case.

2. Packing. Using a suction system case packer, the cans of motor oil are initially arranged into an orientation that will maximize available carton space. A gantry arm with suction cups then packs the case.

3. Sealing. In this final station, the packed case is conveyed to one of BestPack’s carton sealers for professional sealing and then relayed to distribution for shipping.
